Sunday - Birth of John the Baptist Foretold - Luke 1:8-20 - 12/18/16

The angel Gabriel foretelleth to Zacharias the birth & office of John;

Verse 8 ... And it came to pass, that, while he executed the priest's office before God ... in the of his course,

I Chronicles 24:19 ... These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aa'ron their father, as the LORD God of Is'ra-el had commanded him.


Luke 1:9 ... According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was ... to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

I Samuel 2:28 ... And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Is'ra-el to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? & did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Is'ra-el?


Luke 1:10 ... And, the whole multitude of the people were playing without at the time of incense.

Luke 1:18 ... And Zach-a-ri'as said unto the angel, ... Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, & my wife well stricken in years.

Genesis 17:17 ... (Issac is promised.) Then A'bra-ham fell upon his face, & laughed, & said in his heart, shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? & shall Sa'rah, that is ninety years old, bear?


Luke 1:19 ... And the angel answering said unto him, I am ... Ga'bri-el, that stand in the presence of God; & am sent to speak unto thee, & to shew thee these glad tidings.

Part I - Tuesday - Tending the Altar of Incense - Exodus 30:1-5 - 12/13/16

The altar of incense.

Verse 1 ... AND thou shalt make ... an altar ...

Exodus 40:5 ... (Moses is commanded to set up the tabernacle.) And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, & put the hanging of the door of the tabernacle.


Verse 1 ... to burn incense upon: of shittim wood thou shalt make it.

Revelation 8:3 ... And another angel came & stood at the altar, having a golden censor; & there was given him much incense, that he should (add it to the prayers) offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.


Exodus 30:2 ... A cubit shall be the length thereof, & a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: & two cubits shall be the heights thereof: the horns thereof shall be of the same.


Exodus 30:3 ... And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the (roof) top thereof, & the (walls) sides thereof round about, & the horns thereof; & thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about it.


Exodus 30:4 ... And two golden rings shalt thou make it to under the crown of it, by the two (ribs) corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it; & they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.


Exodus 30:5 ... And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, & overlay them with gold.

Joseph Takes Mary as His Wife - Matthew 1:18-25 - 12/6/16

The virgin Mary, while espoused to Joseph, conceived by the Holy Ghost. An angel removeth the doubts of Joseph. The name of Jesus. The birth of Jesus.

Verse 18 ... NOW the ... birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Ma'ry was espoused to Jo'seph, before they came together, she was found with child ...

Luke 1:27 ... To a virgin espoused to a man whose man was Jo'seph, of the house of Da'vid; & the virgin's name was Ma'ry.


Matthew 1:18 ... of the Holy Ghost.

Luke 1:35 ... And the angel answered & said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, & the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.


Matthew 1:19 ... Then Jo'seph her husband, being a just man, & not willing ... to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

Thursday - Shall I Indeed Bear a Child - Genesis 18:9-15 - 12/1/16

Verse 9 ... And they said unto him, Where is Sa'rah thy wife? And he said,Behold, ... in the tent.

Genesis 24:67 ... And I'ssac brought her into his mother Sa'rah's tent, & took Re-bek'ah, & she became his wife; & he loved her: & I'ssac was comforted after his mother's death.


Genesis 18:10 ... And he said, I ... will certainly return unto thee ...

Genesis 18:14 ... Is there anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee; according to the time of life, & Sa'rah shall have a son.

Verse 27 ... To a virgin ... espoused to a man whose name was Jo'seph, of the house of Da'vid; & the virgin's name was Ma'ry.

Matthew 1:18 ... Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on the wise: when as his mother Ma'ry was espoused to Jo'seph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.


Luke 1:28 ... And the angel came in unto her, & said, ... Hail, thou that art (graciously accepted, or much graced) highly favored, ... the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.


Luke 1:29 ... And when she saw him, ... she was troubled at his saying, & cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
