Thursday - Hope in God's Steadfast Love - Psalm 33:18-22 - 12/29/16

Praise God for his providence. The LORD is the help of his people.

Verse 18 ... Behold, the eye of the LORD is ...

Psalm 34:15 ... (The psalmist teacheth them to praise the LORD. A psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before (Achish) Abimlech; who drove him away, & he departed.) The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, & his ears are open unto their cry.


Psalm 33:18 ... upon them that fear him, upon him that hope in his mercy;

Psalm 147:11 ... (The psalmist exhorted to praise God for his care of the church, his power, his goodness, his mercy;) The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.


Psalm 33:19 ... To deliver their soul from death, & ... to keep them alive in famine.

Psalm 37:19 ... (An exhortation to patience & confidence in God, in view of the different estate of the righteous & the wicked. A Psalm of David.) They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: & in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.


Psalm 33:20 ... Our soul waiteth for the LORD: ...

Psalm 62:1 ... (The psalmist trusteth in God, & rebuketh his enemies. A Psalm of David.) (Only) TRULY my soul (is silent) waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.


Psalm 33:20 ... he is our help &n our shield.

Psalm 115:9-11 ... (Israel exhorted to trust in God.) O Is'ra-el, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help & their shield.

O house of Aa'ron, trust in the LORD: he is their help & their shield.

Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help & their shield.


Psalm 33:21 ... For our heart shall rejoice in him, ... because we have trusted in his holy name.

John 16:22 ... And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, & your heart shall rejoice, & your joy no man taketh from you.


Psalm 33:22 ... Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Wednesday - The Limits of National Power - Psalm/Tehillim 33:10-17 - 12/28/16

An exhortation to praise God for his power, & for his providence.

Verse 10 ... The LORD ...

Isaiah 8:10 ... Take counsel together, & it shall come to nought; speak the word, & it shall not stand: for God is with us.


Psalm 33:10 ... (maketh frustrate) bringeth the counsel of heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.


Psalm 33:11 ... The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart ...

Proverbs 19:21 ... There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.


Psalm 33:11 ... (to generation & generation) to all generations.


Psalm 33:12 ... Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; & the people whom he hath ...

Psalm 65:4 ... (The blessedness of God's chosen people. To the chief Musician, A Psalm & Song of David.) Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, & causeth to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.


Psalm 33:12 ... chosen for his own inheritance.

Psalm 33:13 ... The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

Psalm 11:4 ... (The psalmist's reply to those who advised him to flee for safety. To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.


Psalm 33:14 ... From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitations of the earth.


Psalm 33:15 ... He fashioneth their hearts alike; ... he considereth all their works

Job 34:21 ... For his eyes are upon the ways of man, & he seeth all his goings.


Psalm 33:16 ... There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

Psalm 44:6 ... (The people of God remember his former mercies;) For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sward save me.


Psalm 33:17 ... A horse is a vain thing for safety: ... neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

Psalm 20:7 ... (Confidence in God's protection. To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) Some trust in chariots, & some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Tuesday - Psalm/Tehillim 146:5-10 - Those Whose Help Is The Lord - 12/27/16

God, for his power, justice, mercy, & kingdom, is only worthy to be trusted.

Verse 5 ... Happy is he that hath the God of Ja'cob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

Psalm 144:15 ... (The psalmist prayeth for grace & deliverance from enemies.) Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose GOD is the LORD.


Psalm 146:6 ... Which made heaven, & earth, the sea, & all that therein is: which keepeth trust for ever:

Genesis 1:1 ... IN the beginning God created the heaven & earth.


Psalm 146:7 ... Which executeth judgment for the oppressed:

Psalm 103:6 ... (An exhortation to bless God for his mercy,) The LORD executeth righteousness & judgment for the oppressed:


Psalm 146:7 ... which giveth food to the hungry.

Psalm 107:9 ... (Their deliverance represented under various aspects of his providence over men.) For he satisfieth the longing soul, & filleth the hungry soul with the goodness.


Psalm 146:7 ... The LORD looseth the prisoners:

Psalm 68:6 ... (An exhortation to praise God for his mercies,) God setteth the solitary (in a house) families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Matthew 9:30 ... (Jesus giveth sight to two blind men;) And their eyes were opened; & Jesus straitly charged them, saying, see that no man know it.


Psalm 146:8 ... the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous.

Psalm 145:14 ... (The psalmist praiseth God for his saving mercy.) The LORD upholdeth all that fall, & raiseth up all those that be bowed down.


Psalm 146:9 ... The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless & widow:

Deuteronomy 10:18 ... (An exhortation to obedience.) He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless & widow, & loveth the stranger, in giving him food & raiment.


Psalm 146:9 ... but the way of the wicked he turned upside down.

Psalm 147:6 ... (The psalmist exhorted to praise God for his care of the church, his power, his goodness, his mercy;) The LORD lifted up the meek: he casteth the wicked down down to the ground.


Psalm 146:10 ... The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zi'on unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.

Exodus 15:18 (Moses song.) The LORD shall reign for ever & ever.

Monday - Praise, Worship, & Trust - Psalm/Tehillim 146:1-4 - 12/26/16

The psalmist voweth perpetual praises to God. He exhorted not to trust in man.

Verse 1 ... (Hallelujah) PRAISE ye the LORD. ... Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Psalm 103:1 ... BLESS the LORD, O my soul: & all that is within me, bless his holy name.


Psalm 146:2 ... While I live I will praise the LORD: ... I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

Psalm 104:33 ... (The psalmist's purpose to praise him.) I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.


Psalm 146:3 ... Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, ... in whom there is no (salvation) hope.

Isaiah 2:22 ... Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?


Psalm 146:4 ... His breath goeth forth, he returned to his earth; in that very day ...

Psalm 104:20 ... (An exhortation to bless the Lord for his mighty power, & wonderful providence.) Thou makest darkness, & it is night: wherein (all the beasts thereof do trample on the forest.) all beasts of the forest do creep forth.

Sunday - Birth of John the Baptist Foretold - Luke 1:8-20 - 12/18/16

The angel Gabriel foretelleth to Zacharias the birth & office of John;

Verse 8 ... And it came to pass, that, while he executed the priest's office before God ... in the of his course,

I Chronicles 24:19 ... These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aa'ron their father, as the LORD God of Is'ra-el had commanded him.


Luke 1:9 ... According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was ... to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

I Samuel 2:28 ... And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Is'ra-el to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? & did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Is'ra-el?

Part II - Tending the Altar of the Incense - Exodus 30:6-10 - 12/13/16

The altar of incense.

Exodus 30:5 ... And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, & overlay them with gold.


Exodus 30:6 ... And thou shalt put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the ... mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.

Exodus 25:21,22 ... (The mercy seat with the cherubim) And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark: & in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

And there I will meet with thee, & I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Is'ra-el.


Exodus 30:7 ... And Aa'ron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.

Exodus 30:34 ... And the LORD said unto Mo'ses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, & onycha, & golbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:

Exodus 27:21 ... (The oil for the lamp) In the tabernacle of the congregation without the veil, which is before the testimony, Aa'ron & his sons, shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Is'ra-el.


Exodus 30:8 ... And when Aa'ron (setteth up) (causeth to ascend) the lamps (between the two evens) at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.


Exodus 30:9 ... Ye shall offer no ... strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering, neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.

Leviticus 10:1 ... (Nadah & Abihu, for offering strange fire, are consumed.) AND Na'dab & A-bi'hu, the sons of Aa'ron, took either of them his censor, & put fire there in, & put incense thereon, & offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.


Exodus 30:10 ... And ... Aa'ron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements; once in a year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

Leviticus 16:18 (the sin offering for the people.) And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, & make an atonement for it; & shall take of the blood of the bullock, & of the blood of the goat, & put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
