Because David was an accomplished harpist, he frequently spoke about musical instruments throughout his Psalms. He undoubtedly composed music for many of the Psalms, and he commissioned music for Temple Worship.
A Person's words are measured by the quality of his or her character. If you trust what God says, it is because you trust him to be the God he claims to be. If you doubt his words, you doubt the integrity of God himself. If you believe God is truly God, then believe what he says!
All God's words are true and trustworthy. The Bible is reliable because, unlike people, God does not lie, forget, change his words, or leave promises unfulfilled. We can trust the Bible because, it contains the words of a holy, trustworthy and unchangeable God.
This is a poetic summary of the first chapter of Genesis. He is the Lord of creation, the almighty God. Because he is all powerful, we should reverence him in all we do.

2 of 2 ... The Beginning: Prelude To The Apocalypse: Book Review
The Corinthian church was so free in the grace of God that they begin to sin with some very real consequences. The truth is that we cannot exclude either the law or faith. It is faith that frees us from the law of sin & death (Romans 8:2). The eternal or second death is what we have been set free from. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
It is understood that God is the ultimate power in the universe. In heaven all the angels obey the will of God. The fact that Satan had to go to God to get permission to sift Peter is further evidence of God's complete authority. God sits on the throne & listen daily to the adversary. If the adversary brings an accusation against us, God may allow him to chasten us. This has no effect on our eternal life. This will affect the quality of our life on planet Earth.
It is through the law that all sin was made known in the universe. Until the law came, sin was not understood or known (Romans 7:7-8). In other words we all must die in the flesh to fulfill the law. So we fulfill the law by dying & we fulfill the law of grace by living. Both laws are in effect & neither has been disregarded.
We can conclude that the flesh remains under the law of death & our spirit is under the law of grace. The Corinthians began to die & became sick due to sin. Paul admonished the congregation to walk in a worthy manner when involved with holy things such as the Lord's Supper (I Corinthians 11:26-30).
Christians need to understand that the law of grace is the eternal law & affects the spirit of man in eternity.
One of the most penetrating questions about life is this: "If God is good, why does He allow evil to exist?" As we know from Jesus, Satan is the father of all evil, (John 8:44). Job calls the angelic host "the sons of God" (Job 1:6-7). We find an interesting perspective in Job.
Satan, or Lucifer, was a covering cherub (Ezekiel 28:13-15). It's apparent that Lucifer wanted to be like God (Isaiah 14:12-15).
Satan believed & preached his doctrine of equality with God through knowledge of evil. If you knew God's secret knowledge of evil you would be like God (Genesis 3:4-5). As much as God loved His family, He must give them the freedom to choose their destiny.
The knowledge of evil caught the attention of one third of the angelic hosts (Revelation 12).
God knew that all creation could only live in harmony with love if it was voluntary. Anything else is not love. God only wants those who worship Him to do so in truth & spirit (John 4:23-24).
It is important to believe every Word of God.
Man & angels had to choose by faith whether to trust God or trust Satan.
God placed two trees in the garden. The tree of life was free & it yielded its fruit for food & life. The tree of knowledge of good & evil was beautiful to behold but contained only death. It was only the knowledge of evil that could bring death. Satan believed that if Adam & Eve would eat of it they would be as gods knowing good & evil (Genesis 3:5).
Satan does not have the power to take anything. Each time you see him in heavenly scenes he is asking permission to do what he wants. He asked permission to harm Job in Job chapter one. He asked to sift Peter as wheat in Luke 22:31. In Revelation chapter twelve, Satan stands before God day & night accusing the brethren.
We are faced with the choice of trusting God by faith or living according to the way of sin (Galatians 3:11).
Enoch & Elijah was taken by God without dying. And Enoch walked with God; & he was not for God took him (Genesis 5:24). By faith Enoch was was taken away so that he did not see death (Hebrews 11:5). Then it happened, as they continued on & talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, & separated the two of them; & Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (2 Kings 2:11).
Christ was not a sinner & yet He was put to death. It was the will of God that He should be put to death. Jesus must also be recompensed for the wrong done to Him. His blood redeemed us from death & we are given to Him as His bride. Not only did Christ receive all who believe in Him, but He was given the keys of death & became Lord of all (Revelation 1:17-18).
We are given enough to make a choice of faith - to accept the Bible. The Bible does not seek to answer the questions of science.

Verse 10 -- And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, & went toward Haran.

Beer-sheba -- Jacob comforted there (Genesis 46:1) Haran -- mountainous. Jacob flees there (Genesis 28:10)
Leave/flee/run. Think twice before you trick someone. Jacob had to leave/flee/run away from home for he was afraid of what Esau would do to him since he tricked their father into giving him the birthright/blessing. Mother's love their children and will do all they can to protect them/provide for them.. she learned that Esau had plans to harm her favorite son, so she had him to flee/run. Jacob had to flee/run to save his life.
Issac told Jacob to find him a wife in Haran. Haran -- was the same place where Rebekah came from.
Question -- Food for Thought --- Have you ever wondered why sometime that there will be available females to marry in the same place that a male is in and he will go and get a wife from away from his home and or local area?
Verse 11 -- And he lighted upon a certain place ... & tarried there ... all night ... & he took the stones of that place ... & put them for his pillows ... & lay down in that place to sleep.

"certain place" ........ stones was his pillow that Jacob laid his head on outside

And he dreamed ... and behold a ladder set up on the earth ... & the top of it reached to heaven ... & behold the angels of God ascending (came down/coming down) ... & decending on it.
And ... behold ... the LORD stood above it ... & said ... I am the LORD God of Abraham thy Father ... and the God of Issac ... the land whereon thou liest ... to thee will I give it ... & to thy seed.
And thy seed (children, children's children, etc.) shall be as the dust of the eart ... & thou shalt spread abroad ... to the east ... & to the north ... & to the south ... & in thy seed shall ... all ... the families of the earth ... be blessed.
And, behold I am with thee ... & will keep thee in all places whither thou goest ... & will bring thee again into this land ... for I will not leave thee ... until ... I have done ... that which I have ... spoken to thee of.
God's angels, messengers of God, good angels, move at God's command
Can you imagine how Jacob felt? Looking up at the top of a stairway/ladder & see the LORD standing fromn heaven to earth? God spoke to Jacob and told him who HE was .. God made it plain.
Abraham & Issac was promised the land that he was lying on ... had slept on. His family line would be too great to count -- compared to dust on earth.
God spoke & said that they would return to their land -- home.
Food for Thought --This is a personal question. Have you ever had to flee/leave/run away from home? Jesus said a prophet is without honor in his own country.
Jesus Christ --- seed of David, seed of Jacob (Galatians 3:16 -- Prophecies concerning Jesus Christ/Yeshua)

And Jacob awaked ... out of his sleep ... & he said ... Surely the LORD ... is in this place ... & I knew it not.
And he was afraid ... and said ... How dreadful is this place? ... this is none other than the House of God ... & this is the gate of heaven.
And Jacob rose up early in the morning ... & took the stone ... that he had put for his pillows ... & set it up for a pillar ... & poured ... oil ... upon the top of it.
After Jacob woke up he knew he had been in God's presence. He found out that the LORD was where he was -- In this place
Wisdom -- Proverbs 9:10 --- The fear of the LORD, is the beginning of Wisdom.
Jacob recognized where he was -- it was the house of the LORD.
Jacob dedicated the place he slept at ... for holy purposes ... holy ground. Jacob poured "oil" on the ground as to anoint it.

As you noticed there was no worship house/church/temple where Jacob slept -- where Jacob dreamed for he was outside on the ground.
Verses 20, 21, 22 -- Sacred Rites & Forms -- VOWS -- Instances of Vows by Jacob
And Jacob vowed a vow ... saying, If God will be with me ... & keep me ... in the way that I go ... & will give me bread to eat ... & raiment to put on,
So that I come again ... to my father's house in peace ... there shall the LORD be my God.
And the stone ... which I have set for a pillar ... shall be God's house ... & of all that thou shalt give me ... I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
VOW -- promise. Be careful what you promise the LORD, this is serious business.
Question -- Food for Thought --- What did Jacob promise the LORD?
Jacob did not ask the LORD for riches, fame, nor fortune ... he asked God for bread (food to eat) & raiment (clothing to wear). Jacob promised to give God a tithe (10th - 10 percent) back to the LORD.
Jacob was telling the LORD if you keep your arm/hand of protection on me then you will be my God. (Daniel in the Lion's Den knew that God could deliver him -- God would have still been God if HE did not deliver Daniel as well)

Rephaim, probably the oldest people in Palestine.

Song of Solomon/Songs is in the Hebrew canon the first of the five Megilloth or rolls and is annually read by the Jews in their synagogues at the Feast of the Passover.
Megilloth or Rolls is a term applied by the Jews to five books of the Old Testament: Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, and Esther. These books were to be read publicly in the synagogues in certain special occasions in the year.
Feast of Passover was the covenant feast of Israel, kept on the 14th Abib or Nisan (March-April) followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which lasted seven days (Leviticus 23:6).

Megilloth or Rolls is a term applied by the Jews to five books of the Old Testament: Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, and Esther. These books were to be read publicly in the synagogues in certain special occasions in the year.
Feast of Passover was the covenant feast of Israel, kept on the 14th Abib or Nisan (March-April) followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which lasted seven days (Leviticus 23:6).

Our lesson in the Teacher's Guide stated to plan a movie night with a few of our friends from work and or our community to watch the movies by Tyler Perry: Why Did I Get Married? or Why Did I Get Married Too? After the presentation of the movie(s) a discussion should be held.
